Singapore to Sydney

The island state is situated at the end of the Malaysian peninsula, separated from Malaysia by the narrow Strait of Johor. The two countries are linked by a causeway less than a mile long. The strategic position of Singapore allows for shipping on the shortest sea route between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea.

With more than a million people, Brisbane is Australia's third largest city and the capital of Queensland. It is the ideal base for exploration of the southern part of the state. Brisbane spreads along both banks of the Brisbane River, 20 miles upstream from the river's outlet into Moreton Bay. Bustling river traffic brings ferries, tugboats, freighters, ocean liners and pleasure craft to Brisbane's busy port.
